I won't even attempt to recreate the tone in which this piece has been written at The Register. A spade is a spade so why not call it so instead of blandly branding everything out of a misguided attempt to be inclusive and to not offend.
In amongst all the football obituaries flying around at the moment, I hope Richard Burns doesn't get forgotten - World Rally Champion 2001. He died today aged 34.
Windows Live vs. Start.com - somebody better tell me the difference because they look very similar. Will Start.com be dropped now that Windows Live has come along?
Microsoft today announced that several key products and services - from office software to e-mail and instant messaging services - will be delivered online and on demand via Windows Live.
Start.com is an MSN incubation project which offers a stripped-down search page rather than the current content-heavy MSN.com start page.
My guess is that Start.com will fold into Windows Live, but I could be wrong ...
The name is close and I don't know why, it just makes me smile.
Any fans out there that would like to tell me more about them?
Well that's that for another year.
I started training on 21st May and completed my fourth triathlon today, roughly three months later in Hampton. I did OK and I was really pleased with my run time but my swim time was poor - I think it was a combination of an early start (Alex had us up at 4:30) and and a slow 1st transition (honest).
For those that are interested, my time was 01:28:01 and I came 182 out of the 226 that finished. You can access results as they come in and are updated here (Race 4) and I would like to thank Dr. Dre, Liam Howlett, Damon Albarn and Green Day for their help in getting me through all of those tedious treadmill sessions.
According to the Indian definition Secularism is explained as follows;
a Secular person does not have to be non-religious. He or she can be a devout Muslim, Hindu, Christian, Parsi, Jew, Jain, Buddhist, or Sikh. However, a secular person recognises that each religion is merely one path towards God, and no path is inferior or superior to any other path, as they all lead to the same place. A secular person thus does not disrespect, feel animosity towards, feel threatened by, or look down upon, religions or faiths different from his or her own.
start.com, this is Microsoft's version of Google's personalised home page. It's still in test at the moment and is interesting for the fact that currently it contains no MS branding.
I have recently been using and tweaking the Google personalised homepage so I will be watching the MS one for better functionality.
Incidentally, the Google homepage hides the fact that you can include RSS feeds. To find the "Subscribe to RSS Feature" you need to look for the subscribe feature under the "Create a Section" link on the LHS.
Optimus keyboard
... ok, it probably looks a darn sight better than it performs. But when a simple thing like a keyboard can be designed and enhanced to look this good then, well ... dribble.
Tokyo remains the world’s most expensive city, followed by Osaka, according to the latest Cost of Living Survey from Mercer Human Resource Consulting. London moves down one position in the rankings to take third place, followed by Moscow which also drops a place this year. Asuncion in Paraguay is the least expensive city in the survey.
You can download the Top 50 rankings from here and read the Press Release here.
A fascinating read but it feels a bit like how a rabbit must feel when it's staring at those fast approaching headlights ... not that he knows until the car hits him ... which is one of the main points of the piece.
Only read it if you're of a happy disposition as it's gonna drag you down and don't even think about it if you're raising or bringing children into the world. Errr :-(
Apparently, the entire human race lives an illusion for 200 years and then it's back to reality ... raw turnip anyone? Read on ...
The real clincher though is the Jevons paradox which effectively means that the more fuel efficient you try to become the more fuel used - basically, you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.
